About Us

Welcome! I'm Ashley Abell and I'm the owner/operator of Attics Of My Life along with my fiancé, Brad Sonczewski. I guess you could say our story was written in the stars...

Before I was born, my father bought some land with a barn on the property. He salvaged the barn and used it's bones inside of our family home: wood beams, reclaimed lumber walls, barndoors, steps & accents finished in the Shou Sugi Ban technique. Growing up surrounded by its beauty was truly inspiring - I loved it! I've always had a love for the arts, whether music, drama, or drawing, but most importantly making something beautiful. It's truly my calling.

Brad, at the age of 5, began waking up at 5am and learning to fix and build things from his beloved grandfather. His work ethic and meticulousness was instilled at a young age. After graduating from Calvert Hall, Brad attended Elon University where he played football. After transferring to Towson University, Brad began working in the construction industry and developing his skill set. He started his construction company, Bluefin Contracting & Development, and honed in on his woodworking skills and knowledge.

Together, our love for woodworking and refinishing has brought us closer than ever. In our free time, we love spending time with our sons, attending music festivals (BIG Grateful Dead fans - hence the name), going offshore fishing, and being surrounded by our close friends. We share a true passion for giving new life to the old again. We absolutely LOVE what we do and love sharing our craft with our clients. We hope to work with you soon!
